To Build A Home by The Cinematic Orchestra
To Build a Home is a song by The Cinematic Orchestra featuring Canadian singer-songwriter Patrick Watson. It appeared on the group's 2007 album Ma Fleur, where Watson's vocals and piano sit inside a larger vocal, piano-led ensemble setting rather than a solo-piano setting. The song's writing credits are shared by Phil France, Jason Swinscoe, and Patrick Watson. A later community piano reduction can make the piece feel intimate and self-contained, but that texture is an arrangement choice rather than the sound of the original recording. The cataloged score is a community arrangement described by its uploader as for piano and voice, best approached as an interpretation of a vocal ensemble song. Its fingering, voicing, and level belong to that arrangement.
