The Four Seasons - Spring by Antonio Vivaldi

Spring opens The Four Seasons, the set of four violin concertos by Antonio Vivaldi. The collection was published in 1725 as part of his larger Op. 8, and it is now one of the best-loved works of the Baroque repertoire. The first movement steps off bright and almost restless, the solo violin trading phrases with the strings over a walking continuo. A descriptive sonnet travels alongside the concerto, often attributed to Vivaldi himself. The catalog entry is a community solo piano reduction. That arrangement is its own thing: it stands apart from the original violin-and-ensemble scoring, and the evidence does not grade its difficulty.
