Pinocchio - When You Wish Upon A Star by Misc Cartoons
When You Wish Upon a Star was written for Disney's 1940 animated film Pinocchio, with music by Leigh Harline and lyrics by Ned Washington. The catalog's Misc Cartoons label is a broad bucket and is not the authorship credit for the song. Cliff Edwards performs the song as Jiminy Cricket in the film, where it frames the story's opening and closing. That Cliff Edwards/Jiminy Cricket recording later became one of Disney's signature songs and was entered into the U.S. National Recording Registry, giving the recording a history beyond the film itself. The selected catalog source is listed as a solo-piano arrangement, though the accessible score metadata does not establish its community provenance. Its keyboard setting is a later reduction of a vocal and orchestral film song, not the original instrumentation.
