System Of A Down

Browse piano sheets by System Of A Down on Zen Virtual Piano. System of a Down is an Armenian-American heavy metal band formed in Glendale, California, in 1994. Since 1997 the band has included the founding members Serj Tankian (lead vocals, keyboards), Daron Malakian (guitar, vocals) and Shavo Odadjian (bass). Tankian and Malakian attended Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School as children, but because of their eight-year age difference they did not meet until 1992, while working on separate projects at the same recording studio. After Soil split up, Tankian, Odadjian and Malakian formed System of a Down. A school they both attended as children and a studio where they first met in 1992 show a shared background waiting for its occasion. The first time the producer Rick Rubin saw the band perform in front of a sold-out crowd, at the Viper Room in 1997, he could not contain his excitement. To prepare for Toxicity, the band wrote more than 40 songs, and in spring 2001 it went to Cello Studios in Hollywood and recorded nearly all of them. The band wrote riffs, songs and lyrics at home, then showed them to each other during rehearsal, and when a group of songs was ready it would invite Rubin to hear them. The second part of the double album, Hypnotize, was released on November 22, 2005, and like Mezmerize it debuted at No. 1 in the US. A double album released in two parts, each debuting at the top of the US chart, suggests an audience willing to follow the band from one half to the other rather than losing interest between them. The song “Lonely Day” was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 49th Grammy Awards in 2007 but lost to “Woman” by Wolfmother. The band went on hiatus in 2006 and reunited in 2010. A hiatus that began in 2006, the year after a second number-one debut, marks a pause just after a peak.
