Michel Berger

Browse piano sheets by Michel Berger on Zen Virtual Piano. Michel Berger, born Michel Hamburger, was a French pianist, songwriter, performer and artistic director. His musical beginnings included classical study before he entered chanson. He then worked as an artistic director and producer, including with Véronique Sanson. He recorded a self-titled album in 1973; later releases included Beauséjour, Beaurivage and Ça ne tient pas debout. Writing for other voices was another central part of his work. He composed for France Gall, Françoise Hardy and Johnny Hallyday. Message Personnel is catalogued as a 1973 chanson under Berger, with lyrics credited to Hardy. With Gall, he also worked in television: he composed the songs for Émilie ou La Petite Sirène 76, a televised musical inspired by Andersen’s story. With lyricist Luc Plamondon, Berger created Starmania and La Légende de Jimmy. Starmania moved from a 1978 album to the stage in 1979. Berger described its near-future world as a way to express the era they were living in, bringing contemporary concerns into an opera-rock form.
