Imase

Browse piano sheets by Imase on Zen Virtual Piano. In a Billboard Japan interview (paraphrased here from Japanese), imase said he began after graduating from high school and working for a year or two, when he saw a friend playing guitar and wanted to try singing with his own accompaniment. He had loved singing since childhood, but when he started he had no vision of making music his job and expected to keep working for a company like an ordinary working person. Asked about his roots, he named Japanese kayōkyoku and pop music. As a child he heard Seiko Matsuda in the car; in middle school he listened to GReeeeN and Shonan no Kaze; in high school he listened to Kenshi Yonezu and SEKAI NO OWARI. After he started making music he also began to listen to Western music. In an Uta-Net interview he described one song’s method: he recorded a hummed melody, went home and programmed it right away. At that time many of his songs were chill and slow, so he wanted to make something a little more danceable, and the song came from that period.
