Coda

Browse piano sheets by Coda on Zen Virtual Piano. Coda is the stage name of Kazusou Oda, whose real name Anime News Network reports was revealed after his debut performance of "Bloody Stream." Kazusou Oda was born in Hiroshima, Japan. Oda's father taught music, and Oda learned the basics of classical music while also dabbling with various instruments, among them the piano, trumpet and recorder. In January 2001, Oda formed the band No Regret Life with Ryuta Hashiguchi in Kagoshima Prefecture. The band performed all over the country and released their album Tomorrow is The Another Day in November 2002. In February 2005 they made their major debut with the single "Melody" under the Sony Music Associated Records label. The performances across the country and the 2005 major debut may point to a band whose reach grew between 2001 and 2005. His father's work as a music teacher and the band Oda formed in 2001 may suggest music as a thread from childhood into his band years. "BLOODY STREAM" was Oda's solo debut under the name Coda, a single with words by Saori Kodama and music by Toshiyuki O'mori. The song was used as the second opening theme for the 2012 anime adaptation of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. According to Anime News Network, Coda's identity had been a mystery since that debut performance, until his real name was revealed. Oda composed "Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town," the opening theme for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable performed by the three-man group THE DU, and was credited with his real name for it. It is tempting to link the mystery around Coda's identity with the credit under Oda's own name for "Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town" as a stage name and a real name used side by side. "Fighting Gold" was performed by Coda, with lyrics by Neko Oikawa and composition and arrangement by Toshiyuki O'mori. O'mori's composition of "Fighting Gold" and of "BLOODY STREAM" may hint at a recurring partnership with Coda. In 2018 Coda said he had used the name Coda to sing JoJo's Bizarre Adventure songs for nearly six years, and that he wanted a live show to bring out that whole path and the roots of the songs. The Coda Piano Trio came together in late 2019, when Oda teamed up with bassist Ryosuke Tanaka and drummer Yousuke Omiya, who is also known as HAZE. Oda plays piano and sings, and the group performs acoustic jazz-inspired covers of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure theme songs. Oda's piano among his childhood instruments and his piano and vocals in the Coda Piano Trio may point to the piano appearing in both his early learning and his Coda work.
