Yiruma

Zen Virtual Piano-வில் Yiruma வழங்கிய piano sheets-ஐப் பாருங்கள். Yiruma has said, “Personally, I don’t want to choose where I stand between classical and pop music. I think my music lies between the two genres. If you want me to define who I really am, I would call myself a popular music composer but I would love to try a lot of different genres like contemporary music.” His musical journey began at age five with a fascination with the piano, and at ten he moved to England to pursue music at the Purcell School of Music. Moving to England at ten to study music marks a childhood organised around the piano. After graduating in 1997 he attended King’s College London, where he studied classical and modern music and composition under Harrison Birtwistle. He has said it was his most incredible honor to meet Sir Harrison Birtwistle, and recalls writing music for the Lontano Ensemble as a student, a composition that was, of course, contemporary music. A student writing contemporary music for an ensemble under a master of modern music stands some distance from the hits that the Korea Times names for him. In 2001 he released his first album, Love Scenes, and then his second, First Love, which included his No. 1 piece “River Flows in You.” A first album recorded in a day in a small studio shows a modest setting for a first record. He recalls recording the first album on a snowy day in March 2001 in a small studio on the outskirts of Seoul, and finishing the whole recording in a day: “It was mad, but that was real fun.” The Korea Times described him at 34 as known for hits including “Kiss the Rain,” “River Flows in You” and “Maybe,” and noted collaborative work with Korean singers including Baek Ji-young. Hits alongside work with Korean singers show a pianist whose music reached into pop. He has said of his working method, “As for the music that goes into my albums, I imagine a lot before writing the music. Decide on a topic in advance and create a story within it.” He has also said, “There’s nothing I’m trying to convey through music. I just want my music to be the energy that makes many people want to live a better life. And I want to make them happy.” A method that starts from a story, and a hope that listeners will feel better for the music, put the pianist’s role next to that of a narrator.
